Keeping you safe and healthy is our priority

Breaking News: Temporary Restrictions on Non-Essential Medical Procedures to be Lifted Beginning Friday, May 29, 2020

Governor Whitmer announced the lifted restrictions of EO 2020-17 during her press conference today, May 21st, at 10:00 am. In accordance, Dr. Bobby Mukkamala, President of the Michigan State Medical Society, stated, “It is time for patients to catch up on the care that has been deferred for the past two months.” Likewise, it is Dr. Singer’s opinion that now is the appropriate time to resume full body skin cancer screening for those at high risk. We believe that further delays in dermatological care may lead to adverse long term outcomes including internal spread of skin cancer.

What steps have we taken thus far to prepare the office?

On May 11, 2020 we began implementing our office safety protocols as we welcomed back some of our medical staff. We now have the the appropriate PPE and office configuration to fully protect our staff and patients. We continue to test our protocols and refine our initiatives.

We have since opened the practice to in person urgent visits in the mornings, while maintaining virtual visits in the afternoon. On June 1, 2020, we will increase our capacity even further, welcoming more routine skin care throughout the day.

In an attempt to minimize interaction with our staff and other patients, we are implementing an “Online Check-in” system. This will improve safety by minimizing your time in our waiting area.

If you have a skin concern please call us at (248) 792-3785. We will determine if a virtual visit is appropriate, or whether to schedule an in-person visit. Virtual visits are available for all patients.

Please direct any questions to: TopDoc@SingerDerm.com

Those patients at higher risk for severe complications of COVID- 19 (age greater than 70, history of diabetes, significant heart disease, chronic lung disease, asthma, chronic kidney disease and immunosuppression) should schedule a virtual visit if possible. Certain skin conditions can be adequately treated through telemedicine such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, etc. Also, suspicious growths can be virtually evaluated to determine whether or not an in person visit is necessary. However, it is our opinion that full-body skin examinations must be conducted in person.

If you are unsure of what kind of visit you need, please call us and we will help guide you.

On May 18, 2020, we re-opened the practice to in person visits in the morning while maintaining virtual visits in the afternoon. Appointments will be geared to those with urgent medical problems and those at risk for skin cancer. This includes people with a history of skin cancer, precancerous lesions/dysplastic moles and those for whom a virtual visit is inadequate.

Yes.  You may book either Virtual or In-Person appointments through our Zocdoc platform.

Michigan will remain in a state of emergency through May 28, 2020 under executive Order 2020-70. This order recognizes medical practices as essential businesses and does not explicitly require the postponement of all medical procedures. However, we will continue to adhere to guidance issued by the CDC and seek input from various medical associations for which medical procedures may resume and when they may resume. During this time frame, we will slowly open up appointments to those that are less urgent (and cannot be handled through a virtual visit).

We will re-open cosmetic appointments starting June 1, 2020; You may contact us now to start booking appointments. We will notify our clients by e mail when we resume cosmetic procedures.

  1. All patients will be screened for potential symptoms of COVID-19 prior to the appointment date and before entering our office. – These symptoms include flu-like symptoms, cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever, muscle aches, shortness of breath, lost of taste or smell.
  2. Anyone who has had close contact ( within 6 feet) of a COVID–19 patient will need to be quarantined for at least 14 days before entering our office.
  3. Patient appointments will be spaced apart at least 15 to 20 minutes in order to eliminate the possibility of more than one person arriving to our office at the same time. This will also minimize any potential social interaction.
  4. If necessary, patients will be asked to wait in their car before entering the building.
  5. Upon entering our office, patients will be questioned once again regarding COVID-19 symptoms.
  6. We will then take your temperature with an infrared touchless thermometer. If your temperature is higher than 100°F, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment.
  7. All patients will be required to wear a mask (covering both the nose and the mouth) before entering our office.
  8. Only one patient may be in the waiting area at one time. We will quickly move you into examining room to minimize your time in the waiting area.
  9. We are recommending you complete your check in process before coming to the office. This will eliminate the need to hand anything to our front Desk receptionist.
  10. Patients must be seen alone unless they need ONE caregiver ( Parent or Guardian) with them at the office. Other companions should wait in their car.
  11. All patients will keep 6 feet apart from one another. All of our staff will try to do the same as well.
  12. Strict office policies for the staff will be reviewed on a daily basis. No employee will be permitted to come to work with any potential signs of COVID 19 infection.
  13. Alcohol-based hand rub and sprays will be available throughout the office for patient use.
  14. Appropriate signage will be posted in the office.
  15. We will discontinue the use of magazines and other shared items including clipboards and pens.
  16. The front desk check-in has a glass window partition. The checkout area will now have a plastic barrier to protect our patients and staff.

Yes. If you are not wearing a mask, you are not permitted to enter.

We recommend either a surgical mask or a cloth mask however it must completely cover your nose and mouth.

Dr. Craig Singer will be wearing an N- 95 respirator mask, protective eye-wear or a plastic face shield, and gloves. He will thoroughly clean his hands before applying any of his PPE.

All staff will be wearing a facemask, and if in a room with the patient, an N-95 respirator and protective eye-wear/face shield. Medical assistants will try to maintain 6 feet distance from patient whenever possible.
