Using a narrow spectrum wavelength of 500 nm to 600 nm, the red and brown discoloration is safely targeted through advanced fluorescence technology (AFT).

FAQs

Harmony DYE-VL (IPL) Skin Rejuvenation
The Harmony Dye-VL uses gentle light to restore skin to a more youthful state. Brown spots (pigmented imperfections) from sun damage and aging, red blotchiness from spider vessels or rosacea (vascular imperfections), and rough skin texture will improve over a treatment series.
Treatment is very safe for the skin. Many advances in Harmony technology make it unparalleled for skin safety, without compromising effectiveness for treatment. There are no long-term health hazards from light used in the Harmony. Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity.
Each Harmony treatment will result in gradual lightening and improvement of pigmented and vascular imperfections. Textural improvements are appreciated towards the end of the treatment series.

Treatments are repeated every month for a total of 3-6 treatments.

The sensation is often described as “hot pinch”, or “snapping” feeling. The sensation only lasts for fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. Most people tolerate treatment without topical anesthetic. We typically do not pretreat with topical anesthetic because we need the patient feedback on how much discomfort they are feeling to properly gauge the treatment parameters. The handpiece that delivers the light has a cooling mechanism for comfort.
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The improvement in pigmented and vascular irregularities can often be appreciated when you return for your next treatment a month later. Brown spots temporarily go darker before they lighten!

Anyone who wants to improve the signs of sun damage and aging in the skin, such as pigmented (sun freckles) and vascular irregularities, or uneven skin texture. Also, people with rosacea and acne benefit from Dye VL. Skin rejuvenation can be done on the face, neck, chest, hands, and arms.

Post-Instructions

What to expect...

Expect your skin to appear pink (resembling mild sunburn) for a few hours after treatment. You may see some temporary redness and swelling in the treatment area. Dark spots will turn darker before they eventually peel away. Your skin may be temperature-sensitive for several days after treatment. All scabs should fall off within a week.
Blistering and crusting are rare; however, if these do occur, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor ointment 3 times a day until they are resolved. Please call us if you experience either of these uncommon reactions.

After the procedure...

Immediately after the procedure, apply cool compress/ice packs on and off for the first couple hours after treatment.

Stay out of the direct sunlight for the next 4 weeks. Always wear sunscreen and widebrimmed hats when outside. Make-up may be applied to cover redness as needed.
Use gentle skin cleanser such as Dove, CeraVe or Cetaphil, and moisturize. Avoid harsh topical products such as retinol and glycolic acid for 1 week after the procedure.
Sleeping with your head elevated for the first night will also help decrease any swelling you may experience.
Remember that brown spots and freckles will appear darker while healing. These typically flake off 1 week after the procedure. It usually takes 3-5 treatments to achieve an optimum result. IPL sessions are usually scheduled a month apart.
Hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin color) can occur in some skin types. Please call us if you experience this uncommon reaction.
