Young, healthy looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). As we age, genetics and external factors reduce the amount of HA in our skin. In addition, the bony support underneath the skin diminishes over time. This loss of facial volume creates unwanted wrinkles and folds, such as the parentheses lines around our nose and mouth. Recent attention, however, has focused on first restoring the natural volume in the cheeks. Revitalizing the cheeks with Restylane Lyft® may improve the appearance of the lines around the mouth even before we introduce other HA fillers such as Revanesse Versa® or Restylane Refyne®.

Most modern dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), the same naturally hydrating substance found in young, healthy skin. Dr. Singer uses hyaluronic-acid fillers including Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, and Revanesse Versa.
Fillers restore lost volume and soften wrinkles and folds. They are commonly used in the cheeks, the parentheses lines around the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, and the lips.
It depends on the product and the area treated, but most hyaluronic-acid fillers last roughly 6 to 18 months before they are gradually and naturally absorbed. Touch-ups maintain the result.
Most modern fillers contain a numbing agent (lidocaine), so treatment is generally well tolerated. Temporary swelling or bruising can occur, but downtime is minimal and most people return to normal activities the same day.
Botox relaxes the muscles that create expression lines, while fillers add volume to directly fill and lift wrinkles and folds. The two work in different ways and are often used together for a balanced, natural result.
